Dog & Pony? Obama Announces Health Care C-SPAN Meeting
President Barack Obama is planning to host a televised meeting with Republican and Democratic congressional leaders on health care reform.
The Feb. 25 meeting is an attempt to reach across the aisle but not a signal that the president plans to start over, as Republicans have demanded, a White House official said.
“I want to come back [after the Presidents Day congressional recess] and have a large meeting — Republicans and Democrats — to go through, systematically, all the best ideas that are out there and move it forward,” Obama said in an interview with Katie Couric during CBS’s Super Bowl pre-game show Sunday.
Obama said he wants to “look at the Republican ideas that are out there.”
“If we can go, step by step, through a series of these issues and arrive at some agreements, then, procedurally, there’s no reason why we can’t do it a lot faster the process took last year,” he said.
In a statement, the official said, “What the president will not do is let this moment slip away. He hopes to have Republican support in doing so — but he is going to move forward on health reform.” Read more here.

It is a trap to make Republicans look like obstructionists to the Democrats ‘Great ideas’. Don't fall for it, they have locked the minority party out and blocked all ideas, then lied to the electorate for over a year. They are committing suicide all on their own, don't interfere with the process.
But, if they can get Republicans talking about health care, too, then they’ll all be painted with the same brush. The American people, by and large, are tired of Washington dithering about this issue while the economy burns down around them. Getting the Republicans invested in this issue now helps the Dems in November because they wouldn’t be painted as the only idiots still obsessed with it throughout 2010.
Again, if I were the Republicans, I would give them a neat, tidy, 100 page bill on HC reform and tell them to do whatever they want to it and get back us. We’re too busy trying to get American businesses back to hiring people and making money to bother with this right now. Somehow I think that would resonate better with the American voting public than getting both parties bogged down in the health care swamp for another 12 months.

For nearly a year this Congress and this administration rejected every Republican amendment and now after they loose a single senate seat they are willing to reach across the isle? You know if it looks like a PR trap, smells like a PR trap; it is a PR trap. My advice; hold to conservative values and do not give on anything. No illegals get free health care! No money for abortions and make it illegal for the Department of Health to amend insurance premiums to fund abortions or to do any creative financing to pay for abortions. No fining citizens because they choose to exercise their freedom and not buy health insurance and the list continues. Fight for what you think is correct and hold out for the sky.
If it fails, it will fail because they cannot get enough votes from their own parties to pass this worthless bill.
