It's certainly true that women can govern - two of our finest senators are the two women from Washington State. It's a pity Sarah hasn't shown that she has the commitment to finish out her term as governor - when the going gets tough, she quits and goes on a book tour.

Historically, feminism has been a progressive social movement associated more with the left of the political spectrum so that is why I made the earlier comment. For feminists and the ACLU, issues matter more than political affiliation. Do you have any facts or specific examples of the claim you are making?

You are obviously the one who is confused. I never said she was wrong or disparraged her opinion just pointed out that her answer was incomplete. If you ever watched the video of Ms. Prejean's "infamous" appearance at the Miss USA pageant, you would know that the question was about whether or not states should legalize same-sex marriage. Her answer was a little rambling and nowhere in her answer did she even address the issue of states' rights. Had she said something like, "I don't believe in same-sex marriage but I think each state should vote on it" then there probably would have been no controversy.

There was no conspiracy or disconnect. Some feminists DID speak out against some of the harsher treatment that Carrie Prejean received. (quick example found with Google: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/amy-siskind/sexism-against-conservati_b_21...)
As for why it wasn't more vocal or more widespread, my opinion is that to most hardcore feminists, a woman taking her clothes off on national television is hardly someone promoting the equality of women.
On a side note, had Ms. Prejean actually answered the question instead of just giving her opinon, she probably would have avoided all the controversy.
