Graham Warns GOP About Going Too Far Right

The morning after Republicans lost an upstate New York House seat, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) warned that conservative activists will bring destruction to the Republican Party if they drive out moderate candidates across the country.

“To those people who are pursuing purity, you’ll become a club not a party,” Graham told POLITICO in the Capitol Wednesday. “Those people who are trying to embrace conservatism in a thoughtful way that fits the region and the state and the district are going to do well. Conservativism is an asset. Blind ideology is not.”

I would like to suggest to the Tea Party Express and supporters that there be a hugh parade honoring the military, our founding fathers, the constitution, bill of rights, American flag on a scale larger than ever done such as Rose Bowl parade ect. There are many kids and younger Americans of all ethnicities who don't even know what these are or represent. Let's have it so it goes right by Congress.

He sounds like the last bonehead who jumped parties...start by saying things like this and presto-chango (or is that hopo-chango) and your an independent AKA democrat. Mr Graham should remember there are a lot more independents every day because we are tired of the liberals in both parties...And you should talk about Clubs, the Country Club Republicans are one of the reasons people jumped ship...And if yuou would bother to open your eyes, the libs don't really have this problems, they stand together as conservatives haters while you try to "get along"..screw that we want someone who has a pair to represent us....You have been in Washington toooooo long, like a lot of these boobs...Do us a favor and retire

Hmmm, believing in our Constitution and Declaration of Independence is blind ideology? Time for Graham to get out while he can. Every time I hear this guy speak, he sounds like a lot of the rest; always campaigning with politically correct diatribe that never really addresses the questions asked or tells you where he stands.

Ron Paul is direct and consistent. Look at his voting record. I challenge your to find one other member of congress who has the integrity he does. All of them say one thing and do another. With Dr. Paul you know what you have and you know what you will have tomorrow.

Graham is entitled to his opinion. As for me, I will donate no money to the GOP as long as it supports candidates that support policies that I consider abhorent. I prefer principle over policy.

Today’s moderate Republicans are yesterdays liberal Democrats.
40 years ago Graham would have been considered a leftwing loon. Where does that put us in 40 more years? It is time to either to take the Party back or start a new one.
Compromise is always a win for the aggressor. It is time for us to take back our country one repealed law and tax at a time.

He's telling us he wants to be targeted when he is up for re-election by nominating a conservative to run against him. We live in SC and I can't wait to campaign against him.
Topping the list should be his buddy McCain. I really pray a good conservative runs against him in Arizona as he is up for re-election in November 2010.
Senators like Graham are infuriating because they have no principles, do not believe in the Constitution, and are always looking for nuances when agreeing with the liberals.

We must go far right in order to balance how far left Graham is. If the Republican Party does not begin to stand for conservative values it will cease to exist. That means it must diminish the influence of McCain, Graham, Powell, etc. They can remain in the Repub. Party as long as they behave themselves and vote the way they are told until they can be replaced in a few years. How about a recall election in SC?

Forget 'right' and 'left', Mr. Graham. The Conservatives - both Democrats and Republicans - have a duty to stay true to their 'party.
Democrats - true Democrats are a political party, the current administration are the 'progressive' party. You, Mr. Graham are a Liberal Republican. I, am a Conservative.
The complaint against the Republican party is that they have tried to 'include' more members by welcoming anyone - with any beliefs. Very simply, Mr. Graham, you don't represent the Republican party. You represent the 'moderate' Democrat.
The administration has sulied the Democratic party's name for years to come, simply because Mr. Obama ran as something he is not and has lost the trust of the true Democrats, Republicans and Independents. No one likes being lied to.
Mr. Graham, for years you were one of the truly 'great' Senators. I honestly believed you had a chance on the 'Big' ticket some day. But now, Americans have discovered that you are 'representing' the wrong party.
You either have ideals or you don't. You have a decision to make as to what party you want to be affiliated with. We have a two-party (four party now) system for a reason. We believe in something. We haven't changed, Mr. Graham...you have.

Lindsey, I consider myself an independent moderate republican! But right now, the dems are so dam far LEFT that I have to side even with the far RIGHT! I do not agree with everything pushed by the far right, but I abhor so much about the far left, that I have to make a choice. I think a lot of independents feel as I do. I just can't get all that excited about gay marriage, but I get excited as hell about government taking over my health, bank, and wallet!

Graham is a disgrace to all South Carolina voters. I had hoped that last year we would have been rid of him, but he has too many uninformed hoodwinked. They don't see him for what he is, so now we in South Carolina have to have this piece of embarassment represent us for another five years. Adds fuel to Term Limits. He and people like McCain are what's wrong with the Republican Party. They need to be pushed out of the way and make room for the people needed to bring the party back to the right.
