Shooting Rampage at Fort Hood: Why Did It Happen?

Military officials were starting Friday to piece together what may have pushed an Army psychiatrist trained to help soldiers in distress to turn on his comrades in a shooting rampage that killed 13 people and wounded 30 in Texas.

Authorities raided the apartment of suspected shooter Major Nidal Malik Hasan early Friday in a search for clues, as another victim died from injuries suffered during the worst mass killing on a U.S. military base.

Hasan was on a ventilator and unconscious in a hospital after being shot four times during the shootings at the Army's sprawling Fort Hood, post officials said. In the early chaos after the shootings, authorities believed they had killed him, only to discover later that he had survived.

Federal law-enforcement agents ordered an evacuation of the apartment complex where Hasan lived in Killeen, Texas, and conducted a search of his home, said Hilary Shine, director of public information for the city. She didn't say what was found during the search.

Officials said earlier that federal search warrants were being drawn up to authorize the seizure of his computer.

Before Thursday's shooting, Hasan reportedly gave away all of his furniture along with copies of the Koran to neighbors, KXXV-TV reported.

Authorities have not ruled out that Hasan was acting on behalf of some unidentified radical group, a senior U.S. official in Washington said. He would not say whether any evidence had come to light to support that theory.

Isn't it funny that so many muslim terrors is running around our great country so much more often or freely. and they are not the teapartiers as accuesed by pelosi and napolitano. God help us.

U.S. Rep. Michael McCaul, a Republican from Austin, was briefed by military officials and said Hasan had taken some unusual classes for someone studying about mental health.
“He took a lot of extra classes in weapons training, which seems a little odd for a psychiatrist,” McCaul said.
McCaul said Hasan had received poor grades for his work at Walter Reed and was not happy about his situation in Fort Hood, where Hasan apparently felt like “he didn’t fit in.”

I find it interesting that the media was so quick to defend Hasan and/or find reasonable excuses for his heinous behavior. When military personnel are involved in crimes, on or off the battlefield, the media generally doesn't take their side.

I believe the problem with America not being able to come to grips with the Islamic problem is the rush to judgment by liberals to call all questions of peoples analysis of the Islam problem racist. Just as not all problems have a solution and not all problems have a happy ending it could be that this problem of the compatibility of Islam and America may not have a solution or a happy ending and has nothing to do with racism. It is the liberal point of view that is clouding the issue by inserting racism into the problem. When we can take on the proper analysis without the hindrance of politically correct interjections then maybe we can find solutions that will be good for us and good for the Islamic people that will at least give us coexistence

They started out trying to spin this, playing down that he was a Moslem, then trying to say he was a convert when he was actually born into a Moslem family. Why didn't the spotlights go on when this guy made anti-American statements and why was he allowed to continue his military career? To be politically coreect will we have to sacrifice more of our troops?

When reading the posts on this site, please keep in mind that there are many reactionaries who want to try to blame everything on Obama and will twist every event into something negative about him or about liberals. There is still much to know about this story, and trying to paint it as the fault of a president or political party is something done by ideologues, not patriots.
