AARP Endorses Pelosicare for Profit?

Clearly something must be up with AARP.

Why else would the nation's largest lobbying organization, sworn to protect the interests of senior citizens, watch silently as Congress plans to cut Medicare spending by $400 billion to pay for its health reform legislation? Could it be that the interests of seniors and AARP are not exactly aligned?

Let's follow the money. AARP takes in more than half of its $1.1 billion budget in royalty fees from health insurers and other vendors that market services with the organization's name. Medicare supplementary policies, called "Medigap" plans, make up the biggest share of this royalty revenue.

AARP has an interest in selling more, not fewer, Medigap plans, of course. But there is a competitor on the block.

ALL MEMBERS OF AARP should leave this gov't backed organization and join a really excellent senior organization already out there and growing rapidly. I left AARP last August & joined "ASA" out of Atlanta,GA. They are great and they truly care about their members and their interests.
I urge all seniors to "DUMP AARP" and join "ASA" American Seniors Association from Atlanta, GA. You won't regret it at all.
The AARP is heavily involved/connected with this gov't administration and their backing of this healthcare plan is only in their best interest (AARP that is); and not their members or their healthcare as it should be.
Find out more by looking at the people at the top of AARP and their relationship with the Obama administration.

The alternative to AARP

While everyone is worked up letting congress know what we think, take 10 minutes and call AARP. Tell them you will not be joining them because they have become shills for the liberal Democratic agenda. If you are a member, tear up your card and mail it to them in a letter letting them know not one more cent will go out of your pocket and into their budget to spend on liberal causes.
Consider changing your insurance if you have it from AARP. There are plenty of other groups that can get you a good deal. These guys stopped doing what's best for "retired" persons ages ago. They don't even represent "retired persons". Membership starts at 50. How many 50 year olds in today's world do you know that are retired? It's just another clearing house, like the unions, for libs to get donations.
Any real good they did, just like the unions, went by the wayside long ago. Directors decide where the money goes, not the membership. But unlike tolerating the unions and keeping a good paying job, people don't have to keep their AARP membership to survive. Time to start a conservative version.

Pelosi is calling for a vote on the Health Care Bill in the House on Saturday November 7, 2009. This disastrous bill will corral even more Americans into a government micro-managed health care system and further drive up costs. Please take a few minutes today and do your part to stop this Government Behemoth from further ruining our health care system.
Steps to making a call: after dialing the number, please ask them to take down a message for the Congressman: "My name is _____ and I'm a tea party patriot. I'm calling to urge you to vote no on the Health Care reform bill, HR 3962 that is up for vote this week. This bill will make an already bloated health care system even more complicated by adding over 2000 pages of new regulations to our law books, and its trillion dollar price tag will drive up health care costs. I want a free market solution to fixing our health care system, not more bureaucracy and irresponsible spending. I urge the Congressman to vote no on this bill!." When you are done, ask them to repeat back what you just said so you know they wrote it down.
*
Please pressure these Congress people, especially Jane Harman. They were some of the last to decide on Cap and Trade so they may be hold outs for this Bill too:

The only reason AARP has 40 million members is because they have the best rate for health insurance. Now if they had to compete with other insurers they would lose 39,999,999 members. Remember, most seniors live on a budget so affordable insurance is a must. This is why AARP endorsed this bill because it does not open up competitive insurance rates. Besides, look at their board - in the tank for Obama. (Now you can call me names)

AARP is no different than any other of these self-created and self-important organizations and associations that supposedly exist to represent a paying membership. What they really represent is a CEO and Board of Directors and their views, hunger for power, influence and money. The dues paying membership typically exists simply to give the CEO and Board the funds they need to forward their own agendas.
