I loved what the Tea Party started out to do, but now they seem to have change.
It is more for the money than for the people. What average American can afford $549.00.

Glad to see so many Palin supporters. I am however chagrined that she is taking part in this so called National Tea Party event. This event is nothing more than a fundraiser for Tea Party Nation, a relatively small website group on a ning social network. TPN was originally a for profit corporation. They now seemingly have formed a PAC to funnel the $ into the candidates that its founder and self appointed board wants to support. This event has nothing to do with the grass roots folks that make up this movement, nor does it have the credibility to field any viable candidates. I would much rather use my $ and go to CPAC and see Palin plus a whole lot more for much less $$$.

I don't know if there is a facility anywhere that would be large enough to hold the amount of people that would attend a Tea Party Convention, featuring Gov. Palin as key note speaker. Maybe an open air event just outside of Vegas, on about 20 acres or so of desert, God knows Las Vegas has the rooms to accomodate that many. She would do wonders in helping their economy. Instead of them waiting for Oblunder & Reid to start turning things around.

Golly, that's no problem. Just get some more fake crowd footage, charge tea baggers 500+ a ticket, show them some old campaign footage in a dark auditorium. The tea baggers go home happy they saw Sara. FAUX news does their usual opinion reporting, lies about the crowd numbers, shows fake crowd videos & Palin splits a whole lotta money with her handlers.

I was wondering if there was any data to show McCain's numbers before he selected Palin and after, right up to the Lehman collapse. McCain screwed up the whole campaign when he " suspended" the campaign. He was not my choice, as an independent minded conservative with no party affiliation, she was the only reason I, and dare I say , millions of others voted for the GOP ticket. Remember, Obama only won by 8.5 million votes. I would venture to say that 10 million or so people, call them conservative, independent, disillusioned republicans stayed home due to McCain.

$549.00.... I'm sure millions of Americans would love to attend, but $549.00 per person is way too expensive for most of us tea party folks. Is Sarah going to be there on her own free will, or is she getting paid to attend?

Palin's involvement here is twofold. She is on a book tour so of coarse she will use any opportunity to promote her book. As for the self proclaimed National Conference, she is getting her $100K speaking fee. I agree this event is way to overpriced, costing well over $1000 when you figure in all the extras. My problem with is is that it is aimed to the so called tea party leadership and is not focused on the grass roots base of the movement. Many of these self professed leaders are in it for monetary gain, self promotion, or political office. The role that Tea Party Nation plays here is suspect. This group was founded as a for profit corporation. It has stated that a portion of the proceeds will fund its PAC. I question who will administer this PAC and will it represent the core of its membership or the interests of its founders and self appointed Board? Tea Party Nation, which is really just a ning social networking website has been ripe with infighting, splits, and questions as to the intentions of its leadership since its inception in February of this year. So my advice would be to ignore this event and put your hard earned $ into attending the reputable CPAC also held in February.

Her stepping down as Gov of her state shows some of us that she puts principals and people over office and power. As far as taking away votes from the GOP, so be it. Unless that party gets back to its central core values of small and non-intrusive government and fiscal responsibility it doesn't deserve a true conservative's vote anyway. Obama campaigned ( with talking points galore) as a "change" candidate. I, and millions others, didn't believe it and don't see it transpiring. Palin is someone I believe. She is like me and millions and millions of others in this great nation. As far as the money be raised, that's for 2010 races and it is going to happen. I don't see the need for the teabagger comments. It is a movement. It is real. It is happening. "Change" was a movement. It was real, it was happening. Only difference was, it was based on a scam. Real change is acomin'. Mother Wit will prevail.

Doc 3,
If she really was a leader she would still be "Leading" the state of Alaska. The GOP/Teabaggers will use her to raise money but I seriously don't think she would make it through the primaries. If she runs as an Independant, she will just take votes from the GOP and be a spoiler just like Ross Perot did. I am happy with it either way. She speaks in talking points and it is clear that she really has no deep analytical understanding of what she says.

What makes you think GOP and conservative are one and the same? I have voted mainly republican over the past few election cycles, but would vote for Palin this time around. I firmly believe that the office of president carries with it an absolute need to lead. Sarah Palin is a leader. She is enthusiastic and true to conservative values, agree with them or not. Agree with this or not, I also believe that the USA is still a conservative nation. I like Huckabee, but he doesn't stand a chance due to his yuckity yuck persona. Romney is a loser due to Romneycare and his astounding lack of a personality, for a seasoned politician he carries himself like a stick.

OH SNAP!! Fox just got caught AGAIN using doctored footage:
As the folks over at Think Progress note, Fox News's Gregg Jarrett today used old stock footage of a McCain-Palin rally from last year to illustrate how Sarah Palin is "continuing to draw huge crowds" during her book tour. He was apparently not tipped off by the McCain campaign "Country First" sign in one of the shots, nor did he wonder why Palin would be using a teleprompter to plug her book.

When a job applicant at any level is given repeated chances to explain the job for which he or she is applying, and, even after several tries, still can't nail the answer, that person is unqualified for that job. But her inability to explain the vice presidency (even after several tries) underscored that it's not just about her lack of experience or leadership or general knowledge, it's that she was (and remains) simply incapable of grasping the basics. In this case: grade school level civics, and a description of the job for which she was nominated

Last week, Jon Stewart and The Daily Show caught Fox News' Sean Hannity running old footage of September Tea Party crowds in an attempt to make Michele Bachmann's smaller November Tea Party shindig appear to be more well-attended than it was. Is Fox up to the same tricks today? Faiz Shakir at ThinkProgress thinks so, and he pulls a segment that seems to tout the crowds that greeted Sarah Palin on the stump during the 2008 campaign as throngs that are gathering to purchase Sarah Palin's book, Going Rogue.
In the clip below, watch as Fox anchor Gregg Jarrett describes "pictures just coming into us" as "huge crowds" that have amassed while Palin is "promoting her new book." The pictures that are supposedly "just coming in" are actually year-old video from the presidential campaign
