ACORN Days From Being Re-funded?
When both houses of Congress voted to defund ACORN several weeks ago, what they actually did was bar lawmakers and federal agencies from giving any money to the community organizing group for the duration of the temporary budget agreement, or continuing resolution, that was in effect at the time. Continuing resolutions are used to extend federal spending, and keep the government running, when Congress can't agree on appropriations bills for the fiscal year. When the congressional defunding of ACORN went into effect on October 1, there was a continuing resolution in place that would last until October 31 -- this Saturday. The ACORN ban was in that resolution, so it will also expire on Saturday.
There are still no appropriations bills in place, so this week Congress will have to pass another continuing resolution to keep the federal government going. The word on the Hill is that the new resolution will probably be written to last until sometime in December.

US taxpayers deserve a full accounting of how the stimulus money was spent. Someone had to be in charge of disbursing and keeping track of how and where the money was used. If not, then the lack of accountability needs to be addressed. Contact your legislators and ask them to demand a full accounting.

I never believed that the Democrat Congress would de-fund ACORN. Elections are coming, and this organization registers people to vote. Aren't they being investigated and/or prosecuted for vote fraud in a number of states?
They will get funding no matter what, in my opinion.. When push comes to shove, if they have to they'll form another organization, move all the workers to that, and receive our tax dollars under a new name.

Why is a supposed community organization doing listed in a spending bill with allocated funds - they should ONLY be allowed funding through grants and they should be cut off from grant money whenever there are allegations of wrongdoing. The WH just does not want to admit that lawyers like Obama trained these people and that is why ACROSS THE NATION in all of the offices they can recite the same lines chapter and verse on how to lie, cheat and steal our taxes. In recent years, ACORN employees have been investigated multiple times for voter REGISTRATION fraud. ACORN workers have been convicted of submitting false voter REGISTRATION forms in several states. ACORN itself has not been charged with any fraud. Aside from the heated charges and counter-charges, no evidence has yet surfaced to show that the ACORN employees who submitted fraudulent REGISTRATION forms intended to pave the way for illegal VOTING. Rather, they were trying to get paid by ACORN for doing no work. The ACORN WORKERS (employees) cheated their employer, the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (or ACORN), to get paid for work they did not actually perform. To some extent, ACORN is a victim of employee theft.
