Gallup: Leading GOP Contenders

PRINCETON, NJ -- Looking ahead to the 2012 presidential election, 71% of Republicans say they would seriously consider voting for Mike Huckabee. This gives Huckabee a slight edge over Mitt Romney (65%) and Sarah Palin (65%) in this early test of the strength of several potential Republican contenders. A majority of Republicans also say they would seriously consider voting for Newt Gingrich, but far fewer say they are currently ready to support the lesser-known Tim Pawlenty or Haley Barbour.

Conservatives have no new ideas. Every day they push themselves further out to the fringe of the right wing. These bankrupt politicians are all you have to offer America? A failed governor who speaks about how she is a woman but is known for trampling women's rights, and the other run of the mill white guys who have been in politics their whole lives? You need more than blind ambition and scaremongering that divides the nation in order to come back. How about a message for the future besides "we like war" and "crush the little guy for corporate money."

I concur with you on your analysis of both Palin & Romney. It occurs to me, too, that another contender - a dark horse that we haven't had on our radar - may come from somewhere.

I love Sarah, but I have not made up my mind on voting for her at this time. There is plenty of time for her in the Future. We have to pick a conservative that can win no matter what. As time goes by, she will gain more experience and increase her chances of a strong victory. No hurry, my fellow Americans.

Mitt Romney is a more reasonable choice of the present pool in my estimation. Romney is a "money guy" for certain. He turned the Salt Lake City Olympics into a profitable venture. Has private sector and Governmental Executive experience and has dealt with the healthcare issue as well as most every other head-on. I also believe his religious affiliation may instill empathy in his social decisions and understanding of Americans. He is quite intelligent.

I don't beleieve Sarah Palin is a responsible choice for 2012. She is a lightining rod for controversy and would provide more positive influence by finding and supporting reasonable candidates to office. There is also the possibility she may create a division between the Republican party and possibly set out on her own with a new party and create Perot-effect in the future.

Have you even read the polls that discuss who really is a conservative and who is a lib-tard?
From CNSNews.com
'" In 2009, 40% percent of respondents in Gallup surveys that have interviewed more than 160,000 Americans have said that they are either “conservative” (31%) or “very conservative” (9%). That is the highest percentage in any year since 2004.
Only 21% have told Gallup they are liberal, including 16% who say they are “liberal” and 5% who say they are “very liberal.”
Thirty-five percent of Americans say they are moderate"'
So....Feeling stupid and ignorant yet?? Conservatives out number lib-tards 2:1, and that is according to Gallup

While you may like to think of yourselves as average americans the reality is that you and your ideas are on the fringe. Tim Pawlenty would be a good replacement for OBAMA.....I love Sarah, but I think a Pawlenty/Palin ticket would be smart. He is extrememly articulate and doesn't need a crutch(teleprompter). He can actually talk about what he believes with passion and intelligence. Sarah too has that ability.....She can be the new Cheney.......governing from the REAL power position.

I think this next race will be much more substantive, not simple-minded childish utopia of change and hope. I know the people are and will be far better informed and energized. O9 is no time to take any candidate of the list. With 10.2 unemployment hitting today, Obama's greatest accomplishment to date, I think Hilary has even a greater chance in 2012. If any version of Obama care fails to materialize this year, he will be marginalize. If the Dems loose big in 2010, he will be pushing up daisies... politically speaking. Palin an Bachmann will be exciting to watch as Obama continues to fail.

John,
Palin did NOT quit, she resigned. Due to the fact of her intelligence of knowing that due to the effects of running as the VP, she could no longer accomplish her duties as governor of Alaska.
There is a big difference between quitting and resigning.
I am not certain that she would make a good president, because she would want to do like she did in Alaska, make her own party live financially responsible.

Newt is completely out of touch with the conservatives is this country when he would support a left-wing Republican in New York and for her to drop out and giver her backing to the democrat. Newt had to have egg on hi face when that happened. I haven't seen any contender yet in the Republican Party yet to express anger at the obama administration where they are taking this country into a Socialized Dictatorship. According to people that know the Constitution obama is busting it up and NO-ONE is saying nothing about it.
